Everyone aboard at Seaford High School's senior celebration

They may be busy preparing for their futures, but on June 12, Seaford High School seniors took a trip to the past instead. The class of 2023 was saluted by the district’s elementary and middle school students, as well as many of their former teachers, at the second annual clap out.

For their last day of school before finals, seniors donned their green and white caps and gowns and boarded buses bound for their former elementary schools. One group of students headed to Manor, while the other group traveled south to Harbor.

About 45 minutes later, they reconvened at Seaford Middle School, the place that brought them together for the first time as sixth graders. Students and teachers lined the hallways to applaud, cheer, and give high-fives. The soon-to-be graduates went in the front entrance, made a pass through the hallways, then went out the back door for the walk across the field to return to the high school, where they enjoyed a picnic and yearbook signing.
