As that streak dates back to 2006, North Shore also continued an undefeated meet streak that has been active since 2007. Turnover continues to be a theme for this year's Long Island Nets. The raising of last year's G League championships banner quickly flipped to a messy game, with the Nets falling behind by 18 and giving away the ball 24 times, leading to 38 Delaware Blue Coats points. It all amounted to a 152-137 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers affiliate at Nassau Coliseum Friday night. more

Angel Nunez, a 6-8 forward born in the Dominican Republic and raised in The Bronx, is one of those who tried out for basketball's G League hoping to turn his dreams into NBA reality. His journey includes attending two high schools, three colleges and formerly playing overseasons before succeeding in a local tryout wih the Long Island Nets this year. more
The newest addition to the National Lacrosse League will be calling Long Island home but for one member of the New York Riptide, coming to Long Island is more of a homecoming. Kieran McArdle grew up in Ronkonkoma in Suffolk County, about 32 miles east of Riptide’s new home at the Nassau Coliseum. more

Both the North Shore Vikings and Bellmore-JFK Cougars received an early dismissal Oct. 23 to give way to the first round of the Nassau Class A boys’ soccer playoffs, where the hosting North Shore eked out a 1-0 victory in a nailbiter in Glen Head. more
