The Nassau County Police Department hosted its annual National Night Out on Aug. 3. The 5th Precinct’s theme was “A Family Night in the Park” at Valley Stream’s Hendrickson Park. The family that plays together, stays together, the police said.
Many families enjoyed a night of miniature golf at the park and got to pick up some useful information on crime prevention and safety.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
