Uniondale's Easter Egg-stravaganza

On a sunny day-before-Easter, the Uniondale Community Center was transformed by a holiday celebration into a hub of laughter, creativity and delicious treats, offering participants a range of activities that kept them happily entertained.

No Easter celebration would be complete without an egg hunt, and this one had children eagerly searching every nook and cranny of the field behind the community center. With treats and surprises, the event brought an element of thrill and adventure to the day, creating unforgettable memories for the young egg hunters.

That kicked off the afternoon, and the community’s own DJ Bigga added to the lively atmosphere with upbeat tunes and infectious energy that kept the crowd of at least 50 attendees dancing throughout the celebration.

“We’re thrilled with the overwhelming success of this year’s Uniondale Easter Egg-stravaganza, an event that truly showcased the vibrant spirit and unity of our community,” David Greaves, president of the center, said.

One of the highlights of the celebration was a busy face-painting station, where children and adults alike were turned into colorful butterflies, animals and superheroes. Children’s faces lit up with anticipation as they lined up to become living whimsical works of art at the hands of the artist Nikki the Clown — bunnies, flowers, Easter eggs and plenty of Spider-men and Hello Kittys.

When the Easter Bunny made a special appearance, children could hardly contain their excitement. None were more star-struck than the community center’s event volunteers from Long Island Community Soccer, in Uniondale, and their enthusiasm inspired the rest of the youngsters in attendance. The Bunny’s warm hugs brought a touch of Easter magic to the celebration.

As appetites grew throughout the afternoon, the aroma of delicious offerings from a food truck wafted through the air, and attendees savored a variety of mouthwatering delights ranging from snacks to hot dogs and hamburgers.

Local vendors also took part, showcasing a range of handmade crafts, clothes, and other unique products, and there was also a booth for a home-visit nursing program that attendees could sign up for.

The celebration was a testament to the power of community events to bring people together. “The joy and excitement that filled the air, from the youngest children eagerly participating in the egg hunts to the adults enjoying the festive atmosphere, was palpable,” Greaves said.

“This event could not have been possible without the incredible support and hard work of our dedicated volunteers, vendors, and, of course, the residents of Uniondale,” he added. “Together we’ve created unforgettable memories and strengthened the bonds within our community. We’re deeply grateful for everyone’s contribution, and are already looking forward to next year’s Egg-stravaganza with even more enthusiasm and anticipation.”
