Juvenile arrested in connection with Freeport High School assault

A male juvenile in Freeport has been arrested by the First Squad in connection with an assault that occurred on November 1, at 12:50 p.m.

According to information provided by detectives, the incident took place at Freeport High School, situated at 50 S. Brookside Avenue. It involved two male juvenile students engaging in a physical altercation.

During the altercation, a 15-year-old male juvenile reportedly used a boxcutter knife to inflict lacerations on a 14-year-old male juvenile. The 14-year-old victim, accompanied by a parent, was subsequently transported to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The 15-year-old suspect was apprehended without any issues.

The juvenile defendant is now facing charges that include Assault in the 1st Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon in the 4th Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned on November 2 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
