Kindergarteners get up close and personal with dino fossils

Posted

Students at Franklin Square’s John Street School learned about dinosaurs during math and science experience week with hands-on activities and experiments.

Kindergarten students learned about dinosaurs from a representative from the Long Island Science Center. They viewed replicas and actual fossils of dinosaur eggs, teeth and a skull.

Students saw how large a dinosaur footprint would be, stepping on the print together as a class to represent the size. Using a dinosaur tooth, each student created their own tooth replica to take home.

Throughout the week of Jan. 29 through Feb. 2, each grade level participated in a different math or science activity.
