Franklin Square kids go trunk-or-treating

Children in Franklin Square had the opportunity to trick-or-treat from car to car at the Morton Civic Association’s inaugural Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 20.

Other communities have offered Trunk or Treat events in the past, according to Gloriana Fratarcangeli, but this was the first time the civic association offered its own in Franklin Square.

“We’re always going to other towns for these fun Trunk or Treat events, so we wanted something in our own backyard,” said Fratarcangeli, the civic association’s vice president of programming, adding, “This is a way for everyone to get together and mingle.”

As part of the event, 17 volunteers decorated the trunks of their cars and handed out candy and allergy-free items to every child in attendance. It also offered pony rides and pumpkin picking, and guests were encouraged to donate non-perishable goods to a food bank.
