Walk-a-thon raises $9,500 for soldiers

A Package from Home, an organization that sends care packages filled with essential items and letters of appreciation to “lone soldiers” in Israel, raised money by holding a walk-a-thon with approximately 100 participants at Sunny Atlantic Beach Club on July 30.

Lone soldiers are personnel serving in the Israel Defense Forces who do not have immediate family in Israel. They are typically immigrants, orphans or Israeli-born and estranged from their families.

A Package from Home raised about $9,500 from the walk-a-thon but donations are still being made. Because of the overall success of the event, participants and community members can look forward to another walk-a-thon next year to raise more funds for A Package from Home.
