Soccer club kicks up the Sands

After a couple of postponements due to inclement weather, the third annual Hewlett Lawrence Soccer Club beach party was finally held at the Sands Beach Club in Atlantic Beach on June 19.

The delays didn’t damper the spirits of the kids and adults that played soccer on the beach, went swimming in the heated pool, ate kosher pizza, burgers, hot dogs and took part in the raffles, games and auctions at the five-hour event.

More than 700 children from ages three to 16 take part in the club. There is a co-ed team, a dozen travel squads and the TOPSoccer program for children with special needs.

Games are at Lawrence and Woodmere middle schools, Franklin Early Childhood Center in Hewlett, North Woodmere County Park and the Atlantic Bridge Beach field.
