Designer Faina Busso opened a salon for LAVAN, her collection of haute couture bridal and evening wear, on Irving Place in Woodmere. The grand opening was on July 15.

The Lavan Couture salon has pieces designed by Busso, and it will host trunk shows featuring many couturiers’ designs.Maggie Norris, based in Manhattan, is the boutique’s first “designer-in-residence.” Norris was the director of women’s wear at Ralph Lauren before launching her own label, and her pieces, which have been worn by Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman and Michelle Obama, were featured in Vogue, Vanity Fair and the New York Times.

Busso said she is excited to showcase “unique bridal fashions” that offer “a distinct vision, custom fit and tailoring, and the finest silks and crystal beading.”

Busso designed wedding consultant Rachaelle Deitz Ostrove’s wedding gown, and Ostrove said Busso’s work is “hand-made” and “one-of-a-kind.”

A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Busso has more than 20 years of experience in the fashion industry. She specializes in bridal fashions and worked for several design houses in New York City. Busso has also worked as a seamstress, pattern maker and illustrator, and she designs her own gowns, accessories and beadings.
