Police arrest suspect in connection to Valley Stream bank robbery

Nassau County police reported the arrest of a suspect in connection to a robbery that took place at a Chase Bank in Valley Stream on Dec. 30.

According to detectives, at around 6 p.m. Romell Nellis, 40, who police said is homeless, entered the Chase Bank on North Central avenue and handed a teller a note demanding cash. The teller reportedly handed over an undisclosed amount of money. 

Police said they had also connected Nellis with a robbery at a Roslyn Savings Bank in West Hempstead that reportedly took place on Dec. 17.

He was charged with two counts of third-degree robbery and was arraigned today at the First District Court in Hempstead.
