Class of 2023 welcomed in West Hempstead

Posted

Freshmen entering West Hempstead High School were welcomed by staff, administrators and upperclassmen for an orientation program on Aug. 28.
With the program taking place a week before classes begin, the incoming group of students had the opportunity to become accustomed to their new building. This included learning their new lockers, speaking with various staff members and signing up for clubs.
The day concluded with district Superintendent Daniel Rehman, West Hempstead High Principal James DeTommaso and department directors speaking to the group. Rehman continued the inspiration he delivered at the middle school graduation in June. He furthered his expectations for this class to continue to shape the culture and success of West Hempstead while DeTommaso carried over a similar challenge set forth last year.
“As I challenged last year’s class during my first year, I expect you to accept the challenge of raising the bar for future Rams,” DeTommaso said in a news release.
