Two men from Hempstead were recently arrested for attempting to open parked car doors in Wantagh on April 24, and stealing items from Baldwin and Franklin Square.

According to detectives, a resident called 911 at around 3:15 a.m. last Friday about three men exiting a Jeep Wrangler on Johnson Avenue in Wantagh, who proceeded to travel in different directions trying to open car doors on numerous parked vehicles. When the police arrived, all three suspects fled on foot in different directions, they said. But with the help of the Nassau County Police Department Canine Unit and the New York State Police, the cops were able to locate Jamil Davis-Taylor, 18, and Jordan Satchell, 19, and place them under arrest. The third suspect is yet to be arrested.

A following investigation at the scene revealed that the Jeep Wrangler was stolen from Baldwin earlier that morning, and inside the car were various items that were discovered to have been stolen from cars in the Baldwin and Franklin Square areas.

Both Davis-Taylor and Satchell are charged with third-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Additionally, Davis-Taylor is charged with third-degree criminal trespass. Both defendants were scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead on April 25.
