Valley Stream's Buscemi lands role as God in new TBS series

Steve Buscemi is set to take the chief executive seat at Heaven Inc., an extra-terrestrial corporation in charge of managing the planet Earth and all of its living souls, in TBS’s upcoming show “Miracle Workers.”

That would be God, whose (very large) shoes the Valley Stream native will be stepping into.

“Miracle Workers” is slated to be a limited-run series, which in addition to Buscemi, will star Daniel Radcliffe and Geraldine Viswanathan as low-ranking angels in the show’s corporate analog of the afterlife.

Disillusioned with the state of the planet as it slides deeper into chaos and destruction, Buscemi’s checked-out Holy Lord decides to do away with it all, according to the show’s synopsis, and blow the entire rock to dust.

Valley Stream is unlikely to factor into the plot of the show, which is based on Simon Rich’s 2012 novel “What in God’s Name,” but the famed character actor is likely to have a heavenly presence in the seven-episode mini series as Radcliffe and Viswanathan’s characters attempt to convince God to change his mind.

Buscemi, a 1975 Central High School graduate, reportedly began to show interest in the performing arts while a senior there, and has since garnered a vast repertoire of acting credits spanning a more-than 30-year award-winning career in show business.

“Miracle Workers” airs on Feb. 12 at 10:30 p.m.
