Valley Stream Ben’s Crab scheduled to open early August

Ben’s Crab, a family-owned, Louisiana Cajun-style seafood chain is scheduled to open a new location on Rockaway Avenue in early August, according to owner, Nico Salindeho, with construction currently underway.

The restaurant specializes in hard-shelled, seafood that customers crack open themselves served in bags of seasoning . It will be the third Ben’s Crab location to open in the area in addition to one in Oceanside and another in Uniondale. The family has been in business for three years, Salindeho said, adding that Valley Stream is ideally situated to attract customers from both Queens and Nassau County.

The 43 Rockaway Ave. location has been vacant since at least 2013, when it served as a fusion Indian food restaurant. The property has since changed hands three times according to Nassau County land records, and was last sold in September, 2019 for $850,000.
