Children have an egg-cellent day in Valley Stream

Hundreds of children ran through the playground at the Arthur J. Hendrickson Park on April 13 to find gold and silver eggs and win prizes at the Village of Valley Stream’s annual Easter egg hunt.

The village’s Recreation Department hosted the event with the help of the auxiliary police, Elks Club and the Valley Stream Youth Council.

Mayor Ed Fare said it was the biggest crowd he could remember attending the hunt. “I thought ‘[for] sure rain would keep numbers down,’” he said. “But that was not the case.”

At the hunt, Leyla Ozelge, Mary Ann Khan, Emmauel Velasquez, Nicholas Kaminsky, Logan Dickens and Jermiah Belizaire found gold and silver eggs and were able to take home chocolate bunnies. Every child was also able to take photos with Mr. and Mrs. Rabbit.
