Cedarhurst man charged with DWI with kids in the car

A Cedarhurst resident was arrested in Lynbrook for driving while intoxicated with three children in the vehicle at 11:10 p.m. on Sept. 25, according to Nassau County  police.

Henry Orozco Lechado was driving a blue 2018 Honda Pilot south on Peninsula Boulevard and was seen by police impeding other vehicle and failing to maintain control of the sports utility vehicle, police said.

After stopping Lechado, 46, he was arrested. The children in the car, 3, 6 and 11 were released to their mother. He is charged with three counts of aggravated DWI (child under 16) under what is known as Leandra’s Law, driving while intoxicated, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, operating a motor vehicle with 1 percent or more in the blood and multiple traffic infractions.

He was arraigned on Sept. 26 in Mineola.
