A top-prize winning lottery ticket or the Oct. 14 Take-5 drawing was sold at Ebony Cards & Gifts, Inc. in Elmont, New York Lottery officials announced one day later. The ticket was worth $12,021.50.

The winning numbers were 04-18-22-36-38.

But this was not the first time the discount card store on Dutch Broadway sold a winning lottery ticket, according to Manager Sunny Brajabida. In 2014, he said, he sold another winning Take-5 ticket, and in 2016m he sold a winning Mega Millions scratch-off ticket.

“Every couple of years we get a winner,” Brajabida told the Herald. “We’re doing good with the lotto.”

The store is in a “good location” next to the Walgreens at the intersection of Elmont Road ad Dutch Broadway, he noted, and has television screens displaying lottery numbers. On average, Brajabida said, he sells about $300 to $400 worth of lottery tickets each week.

“People like to come here and play here,” he said.

Take-5 numbers are drawn from a field of one through 29, and drawings take place every night at 11:21 p.m. Winning lottery tickets may be cashed at any one of the Lottery’s Customer Service Centers statewide up to one year after the drawing.
