Two more students in the East Meadow School District have tested positive for Covid-19 since a student at W.T. Clarke High School reportedly tested positive on Sept. 9.

A student at Bowling Green Elementary School tested positive on Sept. 18 and a student at Woodland Middle School tested positive on Sept. 21, according to two letters District Superintendent Kenneth Card Jr. sent home to parents on the dates the cases were reported.

Both students will not be permitted to return before quarantining for a period of time designated to them by the Nassau County Department of Health, or until they could each provide a negative test result to the district.

Any students who came into direct contact with the student were notified by the district and are also required to quarantine. Direct contact includes coming within less than six feet of a person without wearing a facemask, as stated by the Department of Health.

The district has closed off all areas of Woodland and Bowling Green that the afflicted students have visited, all of which are being cleaned and disinfected before anyone is permitted to revisit them, Superintendent Card wrote in the letter.

“We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide you with updates as we learn more,” Card wrote in both letters. “If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child’s building principal.”
