Four senior citizens were rescued from a house fire in Elmont on Feb. 20, and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Nassau County police were called to the scene of the fire on Catherine Court that night, and upon arrival, Officers Monahan, Tomeo and Errante escorted four occupants, ages 80, 78, 74, and 72, to safety. All four were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment by medic Annuziato, who also assisted the officers at the scene.

The Elmont Fire Department responded to the fire, and were assisted by several other fire departments, including Lakeview, Valley Stream and Franklin Square. Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad detectives and fire marshals were also on the scene, and the Red Cross was notified, and responded.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, but it does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
