Reading aloud and proud at Barnum Woods

Posted

Students at Barnum Woods Elementary School and Parkway Elementary School in the East Meadow School District recently celebrated World Read Aloud Day.

Jen Lasher’s first grade class and Katherine Kirichenko’s fourth grade class from Barnum Woods gathered together in groups to read their favorite books. Assistant Principal Harriet Alfano joined in on the activity, encouraging conversation among the students about the stories they were sharing.

At Parkway, teachers of grades three, four and five read the first three chapters of “Shouting at the Rain” by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. Then, the entire school participated in a carousel read aloud, with older students reading to younger ones.
