Overturned car in Wantagh

Local authorities and fire departments responded to an overturned car near the intersection of Seamans Neck Road and Jerusalem Avenue in Wantagh on Nov. 21.

The driver was in stable condition upon arrival of authorities, but was still taken to Nassau University Medical Center by a Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) ambulance.

The Wantagh Fire Department reported that the driver told officials that “an animal ran across the path of the vehicle,” causing him to swerve and strike the utility pole. The pole then snapped, and the driver’s car turned onto its side.

Wantagh Fire Department Chief Ken Kelly arrived just after Third Assistant Chief Bill Stevens and the pair was able to stabilize the driver and assess any possible injuries. Two emergency units arrived from the NCPD.

Chief Kelly requested his department to alert PSE&G to address the broken utility pole.
