North Merrick School District's ‘Operation Frontline’ aids Mount Sinai South Nassau staff in Oceanside

Students, teachers and administrators in the North Merrick School District’s WINGS program recently organized “Operation Frontline,” during which they supplied Mount Sinai South Nassau nurses and doctors with much needed facemask extenders.

The materials were designed and manufactured by the program’s students and teachers using the school district’s 3-D printing technology.  Facemask extenders help reduce the abrasiveness of N95 masks that nurses and doctors wear for extended periods of time as they provide the compassionate, specialized care that hospitalized patients with Covid-19 and other contagious illnesses require.

In addition to the facemask extenders, WINGS students produced Flipgrid videos with personalized artwork, poetry readings and interactions with their pets that they gave to the hospital’s doctors and nurses to personally thank them for their selfless, courageous and compassionate efforts during the pandemic.
