Mayor updates the Village of Malverne on coronavirus cases

Malverne Mayor Keith Corbett shared an update about the village’s coronavirus cases on April 21. As the Herald went to press on Monday, Malverne had 156 positive cases, according to Nassau County Department of Health records. Corbett said that of the cases in the village, many of those residents have since recovered.

“By Malverne residents taking the call to heart, and heeding these warnings and staying home, we’ve been able to have a minimal impact compared to other communities,” Corbett said.

Corbett also said that the village is in the process of putting plans in place to ensure a complete re-opening of the village. The process will start with the disinfecting of all public spaces in the village.

“When you do return to the village library, and to village hall, you may notice some differences,” Corbett said. “They are things that the virus taught us that we may have to put in place. We always want to retain that small town feel that we love in Malverne, but there will be new safety measures. When we do start to return to the new normal, we want to be sure [that] we’re doing so in a safe manner.”
