The Lynbrook Fire Department battled a number of fires at a home on Lakeview Avenue on July 18.

Under the command of Chief Michael Brooks, the LFD responded to a call about a reported electrical fire in the basement of the homme shortly after 10:30 p.m. Engine Company No. 1 was first on the scene after the chiefs and took the hydrant at the corner of Lakeview and Vincent avenues. They immediately stretched hose lines up the driveway to the side of the home.

With the fire burning in the basement, Brooks signaled to the other firefighters that there was a working fire, and neighboring departments were brought on to help extinguish it. After making their way down to the basement, another portion of the room began to burn. Additional hose lines were stretched to the first floor. The electrical system in the house was still charged with fire breaking out in many places along the electrical wiring in the basement, the upstairs living room and the second floor.

Workers from PSEG Long Island emerged on the scene a half hour later and disconnected the power line from the electrical pole at the curb to keep the fires from breaking out.

Firefighters were at the scene for more than 90 minutes and no injuries were reported.
