A Queens woman was arrested for an alleged unlawful imprisonment that occurred on July 21 at 9:50 a.m. in Oceanside.

Cathy Thompson, 28, of Jamaica, who is employed as a home health aide, rang the doorbell of her 64-year-old male patient’s Oceanside residence multiple times. The patient’s wife, 68, opened the door and allegedly saw that Thompson had a large kitchen knife, detectives said.

Thompson entered the house, and the woman went to a neighbor’s house to call police. After she notified the police, she returned to her residence to ensure her husband, 98-year old-mother and 94-year-old father were safe.

Thompson allegedly waved the knife at the victims, locked the front door and told the victims they were not allowed to leave. The medical patient began to have difficulty breathing, and the health aide began to question her patient’s severe medical condition, according to detectives.

Officers arrived on scene, located Thompson and conducted a thorough investigation. Thompson is charged with four counts of unlawful imprisonment, four counts of second-degree menacing, endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. She will be arraigned after being medically evaluated.
