HAFTR marks health week

The Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway celebrated health week Feb. 8 to 12, with many activities, learning opportunities, projects and more.

Many parents and grandparents were able to virtually visit classes to share what they know with the students. Some classes used projects to learn about germs, teeth and more.

In the lower school classrooms, teachers discussed the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy foods and exercising to keep bodies strong.

The HAFTR PTA sponsored healthy snacks throughout the week. The children appeared to enjoy climbing and running and getting their hearts pumping.

The students began to understand that apples and strawberries are healthier for them than cookies and candy, and that eating treats once in a while is part of eating a healthy, balanced diet. Early childhood students made their own healthy pizzas for lunch, a definite winner of a meal.
