Bellmore, North Bellmore school budgets pass

Voters' absentee ballots have been counted and the results are in: the Bellmore and North Bellmore School District's budgets were approved by taxpayers. 

The North Bellmore School District's $58 million 2020-21 budget passed with 2,928 approvals and 1,793 dissenting votes. 

The district's Propostion 2 — the approval of a Capital Reserve Fund — was also passed with 3,203 votes for and 1,455 votes against. 

For the North Bellmore Board of Education, Christine Malloy will join as a trustee after garnering 2,394 votes, beating out Peter Mayo, who received 1,545 votes. This will be Malloy's first three-year term.

The Bellmore School District's $36.9 million budget was approved with 1,475 votes for and 864 against. 

Incumbent Jay L.T. Breakstone, who ran uncontested, will return to the Board of Education after garnering 1,821 votes.
