Bellmore, Merrick civics plan community cleanups

The Bellmore Civic Association and the South Merrick Community Civic Association will host spring community cleanups. 

In Bellmore, the civic association will hold it’s first Spring Cleanup of the season on Sunday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet the group at the Bellmore Post Office on Merrick Road. They will head east. Please bring garbage bags, brooms, blowers and gloves. 

The second Spring Cleanup in Bellmore will be on Sunday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet the group at Bellmore Plaza, next to Stella’s old Subway location. The group will head west.

In Merrick, the civic association is teaming up with the Merrick Community Cleanup Crew to host their spring cleaning.  Teen and adult volunteers are needed; students will receive community service credit. 

The first cleanup will be on Sunday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Meet at the gazebo at the train station on Merrick Avenue. They will clean Sunrise Highway to Loines Avenue. 

The second cleanup will occur on Sunday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Meet at the parking lot of Bagel Boss on Merrick Road. The group will proceed west on Merrick Road up to the Te'Amo/Birch School side of Merrick Road. 

All are asked to bring their own masks, gloves, pick-up sticks, rakes, etc. They will provide garbage bags.
