A 24-year-old Baldwin woman survived an attempted murder after a man shot at her from the roof of a Kings Parkway house on Feb. 2, Nassau County police said. The victim was walking to her car when a man climbed out of a second-floor window and onto the roof of a house and began firing at the woman, according to authorities.

The alleged shooter, Massapequa resident Michael Atamian, hit the vehicle but not the victim, who entered the car and called 911. Atamian fled in a gray Honda Civic with no license plates.

A 5th Precinct officer stopped Atamian and two other men in West Hempstead because the car had no license plates. As the officer, who heard a radio call describing the vehicle that he pulled over, approached the car he noticed Louis Castillo, of Massapequa, had a handgun in his waistband, police said. Castillo refused to get out of the vehicle, at which time he was tazed and arrested. The driver, Trent Austin, was arrested and charged with third-degree hindering prosecution. Castillo faces restisting arrest, criminal possession of a firearm and second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon charges. Atamian has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree reckless endangerment and first- and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
