North Shore Central School District Superintendent Dr. Peter Giarrizzo announced via the district website on Tuesday that North Shore High School will be closed from Nov. 4 to Nov. 16 due to four students testing positive for Covid-19. During this time, he said, students will be converting to a fully remote model learning.

Giarrizzo said the district is awaiting results of tests from other students, family members and district staff. For now, the rest of the district’s school will remain open.

“I am disappointed and frustrated, yet hopeful that when we turn the corner on this we will emerge stronger upon our return,” Giarrizo said. “Students and teachers belong in school and while there was no other reasonable way to fully protect the health and wellness of our community, children and staff while in school, I fervently ask that you please wear masks, refrain from gatherings, maintain social distance and practice good hand hygiene.”
