Grieving family and friends of Jillian Daly bid her a final farewell Tuesday at a funeral Mass at St. Agnes Cathedral. The 24-year-old died unexpectedly on Oct. 14 from complications of a blood disorder. more
Carman N. Esposito died on Sept. 30. Born on Feb. 17, 1925 to Aniello and Vittoria, he was a lifelong resident of Rockville Centre. more
Evelyn George died peacefully at South Nassau Communities Hospital on Aug. 3. She was 101. Born in Seattle, she went to work for the New York Telephone Company at the age of 16, where she met her husband, William George. Before leaving the telephone company, she taught ceramics and arts and crafts. The couple retired to Florida but upon her husband’s death, she returned to New York and worked at the A. & S. Department store in Hempstead. She eventually retired to the Rockville Centre Nursing Center. She is survived by three children, six grandchildren who knew her as “Grandma Maggie,” and seven great grandchildren. more
Richard S. Byers died peacefully at Jenner’s Pond Retirement Community in West Grove, Pa. on Sept. 29. more
Amrit Kakaria, a leading Indian-American journalist in the U.S., and a former resident of Rockville Centre, died on Sept. 26. The cause was a heart attack (he had been battling cancer, but it was in remission). He was 72. Kakaria retired in 2002 after 45 years in the media business, most recently as head of U.S. operations for the India Today group. more
William Girasole, a 24-year resident of Rockville Centre, died on Sept. 3 after a long illness. He was 57 years old. more
