Tommy Brull Foundation to host virtual bingo fundraiser for Camp Anchor

The Tommy Brull Foundation is hosting a virtual bingo fundraiser on Aug. 5 to raise money for the Anchor Program Fund.

All proceeds will go to trips and activities at Camp Anchor, Town of Hempstead’s year-round recreation program for children and adults with special needs.

The virtual event will take place during two separate sessions at 7 and 8:30 p.m. To register, visit tommybrullfoundation.org/donations, make a minimum donation of $10 and indicate your preferred bingo time slot. Participants will then be emailed their own bingo card.

Bingo prizes will include gift cards to local restaurants, Camp Anchor and Tommy Brull Foundation gear and other surprise gifts. Unsound Surf, a surf shop in Long Beach, donated funds to purchase eatery gift cards to be used as prizes.

The Tommy Brull Foundation has been laying low recently due to Covid-19, said president Martin Brull. Its annual Ladybug Ball fundraiser was canceled, as well as concerts it had planned for its “Shine a Light” music series.

The Rockville Centre-based organization holds events throughout the year to fundraise for various local programs that help people with special needs. Many of the programs, including Camp Anchor, are now low on funds due to canceled events in the pandemic. With the bingo event, the foundation hopes to offset some of that for Camp Anchor.
