Rockville Centre man arrested for allegedly robbing Oceanside bank

Nassau County police arrested a Rockville Centre man for allegedly stealing money from the People’s United Bank in Oceanside.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, Michael Fox, 48, came into the bank, at 3577 Long Beach Road, at about 6:55 p.m. on Jan. 23, approached the teller and demanded money. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money, and he then ran on foot in an unknown direction.

There was only one employee in the bank and no customers at the time of the incident, and no one was injured.

Police acquired images of the man from surveillance footage, and found him at a Best Western Hotel in Rockville Centre. He was placed under arrest without incident on Jan. 25.

Fox was charged with third-degree robbery and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Jan. 25.
