To those that knew Angela Querze, she was someone who lived her live to the fullest through the number of different interests and hobbies she participated in.

The former Inwood resident Querze died on April 7. She was 99.

Born April 2, 1921 to parents Tony and Philomena Reo, she lived with them, her grandparents and cousins in Inwood before moving to Douglaston with her beloved husband, Raoul Querze. She would spend the majority of her life in that Queens community.

Music ran in the family as Querze was an accomplished opera singer and Raoul, a maestro who taught singing to up and coming performers, and both were musical educators at Carnegie Hall.

Querze’s cousin, Ellen Martino said that Querze was a woman of culture. “Angela was a world traveler and was well versed in several languages including Italian, Spanish, French and English,” Martino said. “She was always dressed to the nines and had a beautiful selection of hats.”

Martino added that Querze loved spending time with her family and friends. “She enjoyed playing piano, organ, reading the bible and spending time with family, hosting many holidays in her home with homemade Italian food and wine,” she said. “Angela loved children and was also an animal lover as she adopted birds, dogs, cats and even fed local raccoons that visited at dusk.”

Querze was predeceased by her husband Raoul in 1977.

A private burial took place at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington on April 15. Martino noted that a celebration of her life would be held at a later date.

“She led a life of faith and love, felt that she had an amazing, blessed life and was very grateful for a lifetime of good health,” Martino added. “Angela had a happy presence, was loved by all and will be sadly missed by many extended family members and dear friends.”
