Locust Valley Central School District prepared for the first day of school

Posted

The Locust Valley Central School District opened its doors today for students and while things may look a bit different, students will be provided with the same exemplary education that the community has come to know, while adhering to safety precautions that exceed recommended guidelines.

The full reopening plan is available on the district’s website at www.lvcsd.k12.ny.us. Some of the safety enhancements include three-sided barriers on every desk, portable hand washing stations, hand sanitizing stations and mandatory mask wearing. Additionally, classroom furniture has been rearranged, and in many cases removed, to allow for social distancing of desks. Lines down each hallway create one way “lanes” to keep students separated and tents erected on the grounds allow for outdoor learning and every individual will have a temperature check before entering any of the buildings.

The nurse’s office in each school building has a separate area for symptomatic students and staff and additional mental health support is being made available.

The district is looking forward to the new school year and are ready to embrace any additional changes that become necessary as things change.
