Island Park village board partners with DaVinci's Pizzeria for delivery to Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital

Island Park Mayor Michael McGinty and the board of trustees partnered with DaVinci’s Pizzeria to make a delicious delivery to front-line workers at Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital in Oceanside on Saturday.

The delivery included individual lunches comprising baked ziti, chicken parmesan and eggplant parmesan. DaVinci's also donated individual servings of side salads and desserts.

"On behalf of the village board and the residents of Island Park, I am extremely grateful to the health care workers at Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital," McGinty said. "I am very proud of the heroic actions and the selfless dedication of these very special people. I also thank Davinci's for their partnership in feeding our front-line heroes."

The event helped show support to health care professionals who are working on the front lines to combat the coronavirus.

Saturday’s delivery was the latest of many food donations to the hospital over the past few months. Earlier this month, Joe Calderone, MSSN’s vice president of corporate communications, said that the donations have meant a great deal to the staff.

“But really, it’s not about the food,” Calderone said. “It’s the message that it sends to the staff that people on the outside recognize what’s happening inside this hospital and the incredible challenge the front-line workers have faced during this pandemic, putting themselves and families at risk to care for often critically ill Covid patients. It sends a great morale boost.”
