Saw Mill Road School students show their appreciation

Not even a pandemic can stop students from showing some appreciation for their beloved teachers. On Friday, May 8, a line of cars circled through Saw Mill Road School in North Bellmore to thank fourth-grade teacher Chrissy Meiselas.

The parade was organized by class parents during Teachers Appreciation Week to celebrate Meiselas for staying dedicated to her students, even while teaching remotely. The children crafted handmade signs, posters and thank you cards, which they delivered to Meiselas from a safe, social distance, and some families dropped off gifts and flowers.

The fourth-grade students hooped and hollered as they drove by, bringing tears to Meiselas’ eyes. “I’ve never cried so much at school before,” she said.
