West Hempstead man arrested for grand larceny

Nassau County police arrested Saul Agraz Morales, of West Hempstead, for a grand larceny that occurred on May 15, at approximately 10:20 a.m. in Roosevelt.

According to police, Morales, 20, of 469 McKinley Street, contacted the male victim, 82, at his Ohio residence. On May 14, Morales told the victim that his granddaughter was arrested. He then instructed the victim to send $9,200 dollars to a Roosevelt address. Morales explained that the money was for bail and would allow the victim’s granddaughter to be released from jail. The victim complied and sent the money. He then became concerned and contacted the police.

A thorough investigation was conducted and Morales was arrested when he took the package containing the money sent by the victim.

Morales was charged with grand larceny in the third degree. He was arraigned on May 16 at the First District Court in Hempstead.
