Man arrested for second bank robbery in West Hempstead

Nassau County policed arrested Hempstead resident Romell Nellis on Feb. 11 for robbery at the Roslyn Savings Bank in West Hempstead. A subsequent police investigation determined that Nellis was also responsible for robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank in Hempstead, which occurred on Feb. 11 at about 5 p.m., according to police. Nellis, 40, also robbed the Roslyn Savings Bank that reportedly took place on Dec. 17.

Nellis, 40, was charged with two counts of third-degree robbery. He was also found to have an open Nassau County warrant for two counts of third-degree robbery and two counts of third-degree grand larceny. Nellis was being charged with an open warrant for probation violation for cutting off his ankle monitor. He was arraigned on Feb. 12, at First District Court in Hempstead.
