Voters approve Island Park School District's $40.6M budget

Voters approved the Island Park School District budget when mail-in ballots were counted late Tuesday night. 

The $40.6 million budget, which includes Covid-19 preparations, such as technology for students and protective supplies for school buildings, and maintains all current programs, was approved, 676 "yes" votes to 522.

The spending plan included a tax levy, or total revenue collected from property taxes, of $32.9 million, a 1.55 percent increase from the 2019-20 budget.

Jack Vobis ran unopposed for the Board of Education after serving for the past five years and earned 943 votes.
