NCPD arrests Lynbrook man for alleged DWI

A Lynbrook man was arrested by the Nassau County Police Department on Friday for allegedly driving while intoxicated in South Farmingdale. 

According to the NCPD, an officer in a police car was responding to a 911 call, travelling south on Merritts Road near the intersection of Country Court when his car was struck by Raymond Matos on Friday at 8:09  p.m. Matos was driving northbound on Merritts in his 1997 Ford Ecoline van. Police said Matos, 65, was operating the vehicle unsafely, failed to yield the right of way and turned left in front of the officer’s vehicle, causing a crash.  The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. 

Matos was charged with two counts of DWI, third-degree assault and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.  He was arraigned on Saturday at First District Court, in Hempstead.
