Deasy Elementary students create rainbows of hope

The kindergarten and first graders in Alyson Dellavecchia’s class from Deasy Elementary School recently took a break from distance learning to create rainbow artwork to display in their windows at home.

The project, which is now a global movement, encourages students to paint, draw or craft a rainbow and hang it for others in the community to see, spreading hope and positivity while the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact the community.

“I noticed rainbows crafted by children posted in several of my neighbors windows and they brought a smile to my face,” said Dellavecchia. “I wanted to share that positivity with my students. The project also helps to boost the students’ and their families’ creativity levels.”

Dellavecchia also encouraged the students to add messages like “spread the color” and “we will get through this together” to their rainbows drawing.
