Two men were arrested when after a crash in Valley Stream early Saturday morning, they allegedly got out of their car and stole the cell phone of the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash and then fled the scene, Nassau County police said. Officers said they are still seeking a yet unidentified third suspect involved in the incident.

Detectives from the Fifth Precinct reported that they had arrested Kasheem Latham, 27, of Brooklyn and Jamal Salter, 35, from Stroudsburg, Pa. after while traveling southbound on Martin Place at around 5:41 a.m., their 2007 dark-colored BMW hit another vehicle. The two were alleged to have then gotten out of the BMW, and then proceeded to punch the driver of the other vehicle and steal his cell phone.

Police said the victim then ran from the scene of the crash to knock on the door of a nearby homeowner, who then called 911. Upon arriving on the scene, Fifth Precinct officers reported that they saw the suspects get back into the BMW and flee, until later striking a parked car on Audrey Avenue and coming to a stop.

Latham, Salter and the yet unidentified third suspect then exited the BMW and attempted to run away on foot at which point officers reported that they arrested the two, while the third was able to escape.

Salter was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and three counts of leaving the scene of an accident, while Latham was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery. Police are still seeking the third suspect in the case, and ask that anyone with information regarding the incident contact 1 (800) 244-8477.
