The Franklin Square Civilian Patrol lost one of their own on Feb. 18, when Antonio “Tony” Storelli died in his sleep at the age of 73.

Storelli was born on Sept. 25, 1947 in Coney Island. He met Nina Regina in 1968, when a mutual friend asked her if he could bring Storelli to her “Sour 17” party.

She did not want to have a Sweet 16 party, Nina explained, then she felt bad, so her parents threw her a larger party for her 17th birthday.

The two were married on July 31, 1971.

“Life was never easy,” Nina recounted of her nearly 50 years married to Antonio, but, she said, they “did the best with what we had” and “there’s really no regrets.”

About nine years ago, the Storellis joined the Franklin Square Civilian Patrol and would travel around the town “being the eyes and ears” of the community, and looking for “anything that didn’t look kosher,” Nina said, adding that Antonio was a hard worker as an auto mechanic, who loved to race cars, as well as their two sons.

He was cremated on Feb. 23.
