Elmont Memorial High School will be closed on Friday, Superintendent James Grossane announced in a letter to parents on Nov. 12, after a student and a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus.

All students and staff will work remotely during this time, Grossane said, and the building will be deep cleaned and disinfected on Nov. 14.

The Nassau County Department of Health, meanwhile, will conduct contact tracing, and once that is complete, Grossane said he will update the public about the length of the school closure.
