Elmont Fire Department asks community to take precautions

The Elmont Fire Department is asking residents to take precautions to protect themselves and first responders against the spread of COVID-19.

If you or a family member are in need of medical assistance, please call 911 and notify the dispatcher if someone in your home is under mandatory quarantine, has flu-like symptoms or has been exposed to the coronavirus. This will help first responders prepare protective gear and reduce their exposure to the virus.

Additionally, if the person needing medical assistance can meet the ambulance crew outside the house, that would help minimize exposure to the patient, those in the home as well as the ambulance crew members.

"It is imperative that we keep our emergency responders safe during this time and that we are there to meet the needs of the community,” said Chief Robert Falco, adding, “We are committed to serving Elmont and reducing the spread of COVID-19.”
