Nassau County police arrested two Bronx residents on Christmas Day at 2:20 a.m. for allegedly stealing mail from mailboxes in Atlantic Beach village.

A 4th Precinct officer saw Yoli Gomez Osoria, 27, of University Avenue, standing in front of the Atlantic Beach Post Office at 2009 Park Street retrieving an object from inside a metal mailbox, according to police.

Stolen checks and multiple bills of forged United States money were found inside in the car, police said. Gomez was also arrested. No injuries were reported. A subsequent investigation found several pieces of U.S. mail inside Gomez’s purse.

Osoria is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument first-degree degree, criminal possession of stolen property fifth-degree and possession of burglars’ tools.

Both will be arraigned on Dec. 26, in First District Court at 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
