Remembering those who died on 9/11

The Village of Cedarhurst hosted its annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony, albeit inside Village Hall because of rain, but the Tuesday, Sept. 11 event, 17 years to the day of the terrorist attacks was no less solemn.

Mayor Benjamin Weinstock opened the program, the Lawrence High School ensemble sang the National Anthem and later “God Bless America,” Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum from Temple Israel of Lawrence gave the invocation. Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Chief David Campbell and Village Administrator Sal Evola recounted personal reflections, Monsignor Paul Rahilly, pastor emeritus of St. Joachim’s Church in Cedarhurst gave the benediction and Lawrence High graduate Patrick Locoteta played the trumpet for Taps.
