Danielle Hance, Brooke and Luke Kirchner and Amil Virani will represent Lawrence High School at the DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) International competition in Orlando, Fla. at the Orange County Convention Center April 27 to 30.

At the DECA State Career Conference in Rochester March 5 to 8, Hance, a sophomore, had a top 10 finish on the exam portion on her way to placing sixth overall in the category of Hospitality & Tourism Professional Selling. She is the first Lawrence student to make it to the International level in her first two years of competition, placing sixth both times.

Virani, a senior, placed sixth overall in the category of Financial Consulting; Brooke, also a 12th-grader, and Luke, a 10th-grader, placed sixth overall in the category of Integrated Marketing Campaign Service.

Senior John Loughlin Jr. had a top 10 finish on the exam portion of the category Hospitality & Tourism Professional Selling.

DECA Club Adviser Mark Albin said that “we can work on placing her higher in the next two years,” referring to Hance and “I was really impressed with Amil Virani, especially with his work ethic. The Kirchner Team really built upon their work from last year and came through nicely this year.”

This is the 14th consecutive year that Lawrence will be represented at the international level.
